Clipboard Utility

The Clip button on the toolbar allows the puzzle to be placed into the Windows clipboard.

SEND WHAT TO THE CLIPBOARD?

The main Clip Method window allows you to choose from one of three data formats.  Choose a formats that will work best with the programs the puzzle will be pasted into.  After placing the data into the Windows clipboard go to the other software program and use its Edit menu and choose Paste. The data will be taken out of the clipboard and placed into that program.  If the paste item is not enabled in the other program it means that the data format you chose is not accepted by that program.

• ONE PAGE IN METAFILE FORMAT
  
  A MetaFile is a set of drawing commands. MetaFiles maintain all of the puzzle formatting and allow resizing the image without a loss of quality.
  
  The MeteFile clip option will send one page of your puzzle to the clipboard at a time. Use the Page To Send selection to choose which page you would like.

Use the magnifying glass   to display the SELECT A PAGE window so the page to be transferred can be selected visually. Selecting the page is done by clicking on the PAGE tabs until the page you wish to transfer is on screen. Press OK to select that page and return to the Clip Method window.

On the Clip Method window press the OK button to send the page to the Windows clipboard.

• GRID ONLY IN BITMAP FORMAT
  
  Choose this option to export the puzzle grid only. It will be placed in the clipboard in a bitmap format. A bitmap is a graphic file that has a fixed size. Because bitmaps are created at a specific size they do not resize very well in other programs, so it is best to make them the same size that you will need, or at least close to the size, or larger than needed. Use this format when your software does not support the more flexible MetaFile format.

• ENTIRE PUZZLE IN TEXT FORMAT
  
  This option exports the entire puzzle as very simple text. Use this option if you wish to reformat the puzzle in a word processor or page layout program and do not wish to maintain any formatting.
  
  Simple text can also be pasted into an email.
  
  To have the puzzle look correct as simple text without a lot of work use a font with a fixed character width. Courier is an example of a fixed width font. This is necessary to have the grid display correctly.
